4¼ Inch Mackenzie 1912 Replica Reel

Introduction

A 4 1/4 inch wide drum reel I made for a very dear friend of mine

Stage 1

A very clean brass face engraved “THE MACKENZIE 1912″ 4 1/4”

Stage 2

The low profile line guide was electroplated with bright nickle and then electroplated again with 24 carat gold

Stage 3

My design of stepped reel foot and what I think looks good are the three rows of perforations on the spool face

Stage 4

Hardy’s beautiful 1912 check and the auxiliary brake that I came up with and with assistance from Charlie Norris. I will be forever grateful to Charlie for the many years of advice he has given me. The brake invention is covered by Anti Copying In Design  (ACID) I pay for this protection because I spent a long time perfecting this system and as far as I am aware no such breaking system exists on a three part reel
